Best Charm Bracelets – Reviews For 2020

Best Overall: Top Plaza 7 Chakra Healing Bracelets

Top Plaza 7 Chakra Healing Bracelets Review

  • Size: 1 piece
  • Type of Charm: 7 chakra symbols

  • All 7 chakras covered with both stones and symbols
  • Design suits both smart and casual occasions
  • Dependable elastic

  • Need to be careful around water
  • Charms need to be handled gently

It’s an open question as to whether these chakra charm bracelets qualify as religious charm bracelets. It is, however, quite clear that these are some of the best charm bracelets around.

They cover all seven chakras with both appropriate stones (three beads of each) and charms. The stones (from crown to root) are:

Clear crystal
Green aventurine
Yellow aventurine
Red jasper

The charms are chakra symbols and are located to the right of the relevant stones. So, for example, the symbol for the crown chakra is to the right of the amethyst and to the left of the red jasper. The symbol for the third-eye chakra is to the right of the clear crystal and to the left of the amethyst and so on.

Adding charms increases the power of this chakra bracelet. It also makes the charm bracelet more attractive. You do, however, need to take a bit more care with this charm bracelet than with a standard chakra bracelet.

Firstly, the charms hang relatively far off the bracelet. This makes it possible for them to be a decent size. This is, of course, good for tapping into their healing power. The issue is that it also makes it easier for the charms to be damaged.

Most of the time this can be avoided as long as you treat your chakra bracelet with the care it deserves. The safest approach is to take it off any time you’re doing any heavy, manual work or anything around water. Be a little bit careful when using drawers as the charms can get trapped in them.

Secondly, the charms are made of Tibetan silver. This is fairly soft, so it is relatively easy to damage. Again, the solution to this is just to take good care of your chakra charm bracelet.

Runner-up: Smart DK Feng Shui Five-Element Wealth and Prosperity Bracelet

  • Size: 1 piece
  • Type of Charm: Five feng shui elements: wood, fire, earth, metal, and water

  • Combines obsidian with feng shui
  • Looks sophisticated enough to wear on formal occasions as well as casual ones
  • Charms are on the body of the bracelet rather than hanging from it

  • Only covers the root chakra
  • Need to be careful with the charms

Chakra bracelets are great for when you want to balance your own energies. Feng Shui may, however, be more useful for when you need to deal with challenging spaces. These may include your regular workspace, businesses you visit, and public offices you need to use.

Realistically, you cannot control whether or not these spaces are designed to promote the flow of positive energy. You can, however, control how you respond to any negative energy they generate. That’s where this bracelet comes in.

Obsidian connects strongly with the root chakra. It acts as a grounding, stabilizing force to help you deal with any negative energies that come in your direction. The Feng Shui symbols on the charm beads help to dispel negative energy in the environment. When there are no negative energies to dispel, they promote positive energies.

The charms on this charm bracelet are formed into beads. This avoids the issues caused by dangling charms. That said, these charm bracelets are not actually engraved charm bracelets. The symbols are painted on. This means that you do have to take a bit of care with your charm bracelet to avoid the symbols being rubbed off. It does, however, help to keep the price affordable.

Alternative: Top Plaza 7 Chakra Crystal Bead Charm Bracelet

Top Plaza 7 Chakra Crystal Bead Charm Bracelet Review

  • Size: 1 piece
  • Type of Charm: Hamsa Hand, Om, Elephant, Tree of Life, Lotus Blossom

  • Combines chakra crystals with lava stones and powerful charms
  • Can be used with essential oils
  • Charms can be swapped out

  • Uses synthetic blue turquoise
  • Charms need to be treated gently

These bracelets are a cross between standard chakra bracelets and custom charm bracelets. The seven chakra stones are:

Synthetic blue turquoise
Green aventurine
Yellow tiger eye stone
Yellow aventurine
Red agate

Some people may find it disappointing that the blue turquoise is synthetic. This is understandable. The problem is that real blue turquoise is now increasingly rare and therefore expensive. It would be impossible to use it on a budget-friendly chakra bracelet.

Synthetic blue turquoise provides the same color associations and has very similar qualities. This makes it effective and attractive as well as practical and affordable. What’s more, you can boost the power of the chakra stones with the help of essential oil and/or charms.

The chakra crystals are separated by spacer beads, from which you can hang charms. There are five charms provided. These are

Hamsa Hand – A Middle Eastern symbol of the Hand of God, recognized across all faiths
Om – A sacred spiritual incantation
Elephant – A symbol of good fortune, protection, and blessing encapsulating the many fine qualities of this mighty beast such as wisdom, patience, loyalty, and, of course, strength.
Tree of Life – A symbol of the interconnectedness of life, encapsulating rebirth, growth, and fertility.
Lotus Blossom – A symbol of beauty, strength, and grace

As these clip-on, (with easy-to-use lobster clasps), they can be placed in any arrangement. They can also be changed out with other charms or just taken off. Some people might prefer to keep the charms for special occasions, or at least when they are sure the charms can be treated gently.

At a casual glance, the black stones on this chakra bracelet may look like obsidian. In actual fact, they’re lava stones. These are porous stones that can absorb essential oils.

Best DIY Personalized: UPINS 30Pcs Silver Expandable Blank Bracelets

UPINS 30Pcs Silver Expandable Blank Bracelets Review

  • Size: UPINS 330 pieces including 30 bracelets and 200 charms
  • Type of Charm: Tibetan Silver Charms, various designs

  • A lot of material for a budget-friendly price
  • Easy to attach the charms to the bracelets
  • The finished result looks very high quality

  • For adults and older children only
  • Fewer jump rings than charms

This is a great charm bracelets kit for adults to make personalized charm bracelets for themselves or other adults. The kit is very easy to use. It’s just that the pieces are probably a bit too small for younger children to handle either comfortably or safely.

Assembling these charm bracelets is very easy, again for adults and older children. The key point is that you need to give the jump rings a firm press so that they really lock closed. If this is done then the charms stay firmly on the bracelets. If not, then they can fall off very easily.

It seems a bit odd that there are twice as many charms as jump rings. On the other hand, it isn’t a problem either. There’s more than enough for the thirty, included blank bracelets. It’s also easy and affordable to buy more if you need them, for example, if you want to make gifts or products to sell.

The included charms are probably unsuitable for younger children to wear. They’re small and could present a choking hazard. That said, if you wanted to make charm bracelets for children, you could buy other charms.

Charm Bracelets FAQ

healing bracelet with stones

Charm bracelets can be functional or just for fun. They can be sophisticated or playful or even both. They’re suitable for both men and women and also for children. What matters is to find a charm bracelet that suits you, your personality, and your lifestyle.

There is a huge range of ready-made charm bracelets. That means you’re sure to find one that suits you perfectly. In fact, you might even find more than one. Alternatively, you could make your own personalized charm bracelets. Do whatever suits you best!

Here are the answers to some frequently asked questions about charm bracelets.

Why do people wear charm bracelets?

People wear charm bracelets for all kinds of reasons. Some people wear them purely as stylish accessories. Some people wear them to express their individuality. These people are likely to prefer customized charm bracelets and personalized charm bracelets.

Some people look specifically for charm bracelets with stones and charms that have special powers. For example, these people might like chakra charm bracelets or Feng Shui charm bracelets.

Can a man wear a charm bracelet?

A man absolutely can wear a charm bracelet. In fact, a lot of charm bracelets are created in larger sizes especially for men. The whole point of a charm bracelet is that it should express who you are. That’s as important for men as it is for women.

Alternatively, if you want a charm bracelet for its power rather than its appearance, you could just tuck it under a sleeve. That way you’d get its healing benefits without anyone even knowing it was there.

How to make charms?

There are basically two ways you can easily make charms at home (without special equipment). One is to take regular items and turn them into charms. The other is to use clay.

Four common items that can easily be turned into charms are

  • Pet ID tags
  • Buttons
  • Metal bottle tops
  • Cans and plastic containers

Pet ID tags

Pet ID tags are designed to be used in much the same way as charms so they already have a hole in them. This means all you really need to do is decorate them.

Some buttons come with stems on the back. Depending on their size, you may be able to attach a clasp directly to this. If not, then you may need to remove it to attach the fastening. If you use a button that just has holes, then it’s very easy just to glue a fastening to the back.

Metal bottle tops

Metal bottle tops might be harder to find these days, but if you can find them then it’s easy to make them into charms. Essentially you just treat them like buttons.

Cans and plastic containers

Cans and plastic containers are relatively easy to turn into charms. In fact, it can be a great way of dealing with any non-recyclable plastic containers you may still have kicking around. It is, however, important to remember that if you cut into these it can leave very sharp edges. You may therefore need to give these items a thorough sanding before you turn them into charms.

Using clay

You may have made salt dough clay ornaments as a child. Making salt dough clay charms basically follows the same principle.

Preheat your oven to 250 degrees F (120 degrees C).
Mix 2 parts flour to 1 part salt
Slowly add water until the mixture begins to feel like a dough. This will probably be about 1 part water but may be a bit more or a bit less.
Knead until the dough is completely smooth
Cut out the shapes for your charms. It’s generally best to poke a hole in them now, but you can work around this if you forget.
Bake for about 2 hours (until dry and hard)

Salt dough clay is generally more than strong enough for charm bracelets. If you want to use something stronger you can use proper hardening clay. If you do, however, you’ll either need to buy a kiln or be prepared to use a blowtorch.

Decorating your charm shapes

Once you have your charm shapes, your next step is to decorate them. Here are a couple of techniques that work with any material.

Use nail polish

Nail polish may be the ultimate charm-decorating material. It sticks to anything. This might not be a welcome quality when you spill it putting it on your nails. It is, however, great for decorating charm bracelets. What’s more, it’s affordable, widely available, and comes in a huge range of colors.

For beginners, the easiest option is probably to put on a base coat. Then use a contrasting color on top to create a simple pattern. Then use a regular nail varnish topcoat or another clear varnish to seal it all.

Use applique and Mod Podge

If it’s fairly flat small enough to go on your charm, or you can cut it to be small enough to go on your charm, then Mod Podge can stick it to your charm.

Put down a base coat of Mod Podge
Put your item on top of the Mod Podge
Add another coat of Mod Podge
Repeat for as many layers/items as you want to add
Add a top coat of Mod Podge
If necessary, clear the hole for hanging your charm
Consider finishing the charm with a layer Mod Podge sealer or hard varnish

Mod podge is great for any sort of applique work, but it does tend to stay a bit sticky when it sets. It’s therefore a nice touch to finish your charm with a Mod Podge sealant or another hard varnish. If you need to clear the hole in your charm, it’s easiest to do this before you apply the hard varnish. You may be able to do it afterward, but it will probably take more effort.

Use three-dimensional items and glue

If you want to stick something three-dimensional to your charm then regular glue is likely to do a far better bet than Mod Podge. There are, however, two important points to remember.

Firstly, even though glue may look (and smell) much the same, there are different glues for different purposes. You may be able to find a multipurpose glue that works for everything. You may, however, need to find different glues for different jobs.

The more creative you want to be, the more likely it is that you’ll need different kinds of glues. For example, a glue that does a great job of sticking plastic to plastic (for example layering buttons) may do a very poor job of sticking metal to plastic (and vice versa).

Secondly, resist any temptation to overload your charms. The more you load onto your charms, the more of a challenge it will be to keep the decoration attached to the background. Also, the more you load onto your charms, the heavier they will be to wear. This could damage the bracelet. Even if it doesn’t it can still be uncomfortable for the wearer.

Which wrist do you wear your bracelet on?

charm bracelet on both wrists

If you’re wearing your bracelet purely for style, then you can wear it on whichever wrist you prefer. If, however, you’re wearing your bracelet for the power of the charms, for example, a chakra charm bracelet, then the wrist you choose can make a difference.

In simple terms, if you wear a charm bracelet on your left wrist, the result will mainly be felt internally. If you wear a charm bracelet on your right wrist, the result will mainly be felt externally.

To put it another way, if you want to change the way you respond to your environment, wear your bracelet on your left wrist. If you want to change the impact you have on your environment, wear your bracelet on your right wrist.

Should you wear bracelets on both wrists?

Again, if you’re wearing your bracelets purely for style, then you can wear them on both wrists or just one (or neither). If you’re wearing your bracelets for their power, then you should think about whether or not it’s appropriate for you to wear your bracelets on both wrists.

A classic example of when to wear bracelets on both wrists is if you find yourself trapped in a vicious circle. Something external impacts you negatively. This makes you behave in an uncharacteristically negative way. As a result, you have a negative impact on others.

You know that you’re having a negative impact on others and you regret it. You are, however, unable to break free of the root cause of the problem. So the cycle continues.

If this sounds familiar, then the solution may be to wear healing bracelets on both wrists. The bracelet on your left wrist will help to mitigate the negative impact on the trigger. The bracelet on your right wrist will help to mitigate the negative impact you have on other people.

Charm bracelets can be whatever you want them to be.

If you’re into fashion, then charm bracelets can add the “wow” factor to even a simple outfit. If you like to set your own style, then charm bracelets can be a great way to express it (without breaking a dress code).

If you feel you need some extra help to get you through your day, then a chakra charm bracelet or a Feng Shui charm bracelet could be just what you need.
