Your Window To The Future!

Dream Interpretation

The dreamer – (dream book) for the interpretation of dreams is the explanation of the meaning and the search for logical meaning in dreams. This practice is very old and is mentioned in the Old Testament, where Joseph interprets Pharaoh’s dreams (seven fat and seven thin cows). The prophet Daniel had the gift of interpreting dreams for which he claims that “God reveals his secrets from heaven.” Oneiromancy or dream interpretation is the art of predicting the future based on dream interpretation combined with other techniques such as tarot.

A person spends a third of his life sleeping, and approximately 25% of sleep consists of dreams. We live in this world of symbols for at least two hours every night. What a source of knowledge about ourselves it would be if we could remember and interpret everything every time. Sleep is as necessary for biological and mental balance as sleep and healthy food. It functions as a relief for the urges suppressed during the day, brings to light the problems that need to be solved and suggests a solution for them. The selective function of sleep as well as the selective function of memory facilitates conscious living. A dream is one of the best sources from which to gather information about the dreamer’s psychological state. The process of identification in a dream operates without control, the subject projects himself into the image of another being, alienates himself and identifies with others. One of the tasks of onoric or symbolic analysis is to simultaneously discover these identifications, to determine the reasons and purpose. The task would also be to return the person to his own identity, revealing the meaning of his symbols. One of the very important functions of sleep is to establish balance and psychobiological self-regulation (absence of dreams results in mental imbalance). This biological function of sleep has been confirmed by the latest scientific research, has meaning in the interpretation of dreams and can be referred to the law of complementarity of relationships. Interpretation seeks a connection, complementary, between the experienced, objectively conscious situation of the dreamer and the image from his dream. Desires, pressure, defenses, aspirations and frustrations will be found in properly understood onoric images.

The language of dreams is the language of symbols, and the symbolism of dreams is, in addition to censorship, another factor responsible for the distortion of dreams. The symbolism of dreams is of great practical importance in psychotherapy, because we know that a symbol is a way of expressing our unconscious. At the same time, we must know that when interpreting dreams, not all the materials that are given are symbolic and that it is impossible to know whether the manifest content should be understood as symbolic or as presented.

Dreams have fascinated people since the earliest times, and the oldest findings indicate that the interpretation of dreams or dreamers (sanovnik) has always been important to people. The ancient Egyptians believed that dreams were messages from the gods and created the first dream book with over two hundred interpretations. Egyptian dream interpreters put the theory of opposites in the first place (a religious object in a dream indicates debauchery and fornication, a field of wheat – destitution and poverty, a wedding – someone’s death, a corpse – sudden wealth. So if you dream of luxury, it can be a sign that you will soon to be stolen.). The idea of dreams as a revelation of a person’s true nature, which is also a modern point of view, originated with the Ancient Greeks. Plato claimed that man’s true nature is revealed in sleep, while Aristotle tried to explain dreams as a product of pure physiological functions. Dream interpretation is also mentioned in the Old Testament, and it can be said that it is a skill as old as history itself.

Dreamer – Dreamer in Psychology
On the other hand, many believe that only Sigmund Freud created the first concrete theory of dreams, which he published in the work “The Interpretation of Dreams”. He believed that sleep satisfies the neurobiological needs of man and that in sleep many unconscious desires and aspirations come to life and reach consciousness. For Freud, dreams are the source and fulfillment of repressed desires. Carl Gustav Jung continued Freud’s research and his understanding of the meaning of dreams differs from that given by Freud. Jung calls the function of establishing psychological balance the “Compensatory function of dreams” in relation to the current state of consciousness. This is important in the interpretation of dreams, because if we want to interpret a dream correctly, we need a fundamental knowledge of the state of consciousness. What is unconscious in dreams, according to Jung, indicates a person’s true value, which acts in terms of self-regulation. The prospective function of a dream, according to Jung, represents a sketch of a solution to a conflict or problem in general. Prospective dreams represent a bridge between the unconscious and the conscious. Thus, while Freud understood dreams as expressions of infantile desires, Jung interpreted them as an expression of the wisdom of the unconscious, which occasionally exceeds conscious insight.

Research shows that dreams are oriented not only towards the past and present, but also towards the future, and that they are creative and help to solve problems. It is the past that forms the origin of a dream, although the old belief that a dream shows us the future is not entirely untrue either.
